Xenical
Xenical is a white crystalline powder approved by FDA in 1999.
It is the brand name of the drug Orlistat. Xenical comes as
dark blue, hard gelatin capsules which belongs to the new
class of anti obesity drugs like phentermine,
Adipex and Didrex
called lipase inhibitors. Body absorbs fat with the help of
enzymes called lipases. It breaks down the fat we eat. But
Xenical blocks this process and it helps 30% of the fat to
pass out undigested. It works in the digestive system by blocking
the absorption of dietary fat in the blood stream thus decreasing
the calories you get from the meal.
Xenical also reduces the absorption of some beta- carotene and fat-soluble vitamins. So we recommend that you take vitamin supplements when you are on Xenical.
