A new chemical entity that is expected to be filed for a phase
I trial in May '06 has been discovered by Glenmark Pharmaceuticals.
The molecule, GRC 10389, is the lead candidate in Glenmark's
Cannabinoid [CB-1] receptor antagonist program. It is a highly
selective drug candidate which targets obesity and its associated
disorders. If proven successful, it can be a blessing for
the obese community.
The new molecule is currently undergoing pre-clinical studies.
The first compound was GRC 3886, a PDE-4 inhibitor for the
primary indications of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary
disease (COPD). Apart from the new molecule and other weight
loss procedures, diet pills such as Phentermine
is an excellent tool for attaining short term weight loss.
