Taipei - A Taiwan military doctor has become so famous for
helping people lose weight through diet and acupuncture that
patients are a waiting list into 2008 for his weight-loss
class, the Central News Agency (CNA) reported Monday.
Dr Lin Sheng-chang of the Kaoshsing Military Hospital in south
Taiwan has succeeded in helping patients lose weight by putting
them on diet and giving them ear acupuncture, CNA said.
Charging 300 Taiwan dollars (10 US dollars) per session, Lin
gives customized treatment to each patient and strictly monitors
their improvement. Those who do not follow his instructions
are dropped from his weight-loss class, the report said.
To ensure the high quality of his weight-loss treatment, Lin
hires detectives to follow his patients to make sure they
are not visiting night markets or fast-food restaurants to
eat fatty, high-calorie food. Patients are flunked if caught
breaking the diet three times.
Because of his reputation, there are more than 2,000 patients
on his waiting list,
