A report in the Annals of Internal Medicine on the obesity
issue in America concluded that serious degree of overweight
and obesity problems will rise over the next few decades.
The report was based on the experience of more than 4,000
white adults.
Dr Elizabeth Nabel said, the study could underestimate obesity
risks for various ethnic groups. According to the health data
of National Center for Health Statistics, about 65 percent
of Americans who are 20 and older are overweight and 30 percent
obese. In the study, the BMI index was used to gauge the total
fat. Many countries including America are battling the obesity
epidemic which has to be controlled very soon. Another weight
related issue which is of major worry is childhood obesity.
