A new research has revised the figure of 400,000 lives claimed
annually by the Obesity Epidemic down by a whopping 75 per
cent, and these findings have been published in the Journal
of the American Medical Association (JAMA).
The question thus arises that do extra pounds shorten life
or not?
According to the researchers, though the numbers still make
obesity a major killer, but there's no need to go crazy about
it.
We bring to you certain facts from a report by an expert
committee convened by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood
Institute (NHLBI) that emphasizes upon points usually not
taken into consideration during Weight Control exercise:
a. Body mass index matters, but not as much as you might
think:
While BMI is a useful screening tool to identify people who
may be at elevated risk, it was never intended to be the sole
measure. That's because it does not take into account muscle
mass and body fat percentages.
b. Measure your waist.
c. Keep the Scale steady.
d. Trimming a little weight helps a lot.
