A form of Phentermine hydrochloride, Ionamin goes under the names of Ionamin and Adipex-P. This particular form is manufactured by Medeva Pharmaceuticals. It is meant to be used as a short term appetite suppressant that works in a way similar to amphetamines as part of an overall weight reduction program including diet, exercise, and counseling. It is used only for the morbidly obese with conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol leading to more serious medical conditions such as heart attack and stroke. It is meant to be used only as directed, and it will lose its effectiveness after only a few weeks. If you try to boost effectiveness by increasing the dose, you will most likely experience serious side effects and dependence along with potentially extreme weight loss after the drug loses its effectiveness. It comes in doses of the maximum 37.5mg and side effects could include Changes in sex drive, constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, dry mouth, exaggerated feelings of depression or elation, headache, high blood pressure, hives, impotence, inability to fall or stay asleep, increased heart rate, overstimulation, restlessness, stomach or intestinal problems, throbbing heartbeat, tremors, unpleasant taste.
